Major League gets passing grades for diversity
baseballBaseball has received an “A-” for racial diversity in hiring, but the percentage of Black players is lower. A University of Central Florida program reports that the Major League improved its hypothetical grade from last year’s “B+” in off-field employee recruitment. The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sports gave pro baseball a “B+” for recruiting folks of color in senior administration, the same grade as last year. Meanwhile, the percentage of Black players dropped from 8.4 percent in 2006 to 8.2 percent today, the lowest in 20 years.
